Gladys L. Hutton, 81, of Route 9W, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home.

She was born Jan. 21, 1937, in Glen Cove, N.Y., to the late Leslie and Annabella Stephenson Rawlings. She graduated from Saugerties High School in 1955 and was employed by IBMKingsto­n until leaving to start a family. She then returned to work for 25 years as a bookkeeper for Smith’s Hardware.

Gladys was predecease­d by John, her husband and best friend of 56 years, in 2012.

She is survived by sons, Jeffrey of Saugerties, and Joel (Alison) of Lake Katrine; daughter, Joanne Sauers (Randy) of W. Hurley; sister, Carol Pauling of Plantation, Fla.; sister-inlaw, Greta Hutton of Saugerties; and many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.

Gladys and John devoted more than half their lives to the Saugerties community. She supervised the Saugerties Little League for over 35 years and was active in the S.A.A. until a few years ago. For her devotion and dedication she was inducted into the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame in 1988, with John following a couple years later. They were also able to travel most of the world from Russia to Chili and all points between.

Her funeral service will be held privately at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties.
