Thomas Jerome Farrell, 68, departed this life on Saturday, March 10, 2018, peacefully at his home in Florida, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Thomas was born on Dec. 27, 1949 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He graduated from John Jay High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1968. He was proud to serve his country and did so honorably in the U.S. Army. He completed his tour of duty in Vietnam in 1970, receiving the following medals: National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert (M-16), Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Thomas worked for ShopRite for 40 years, retiring in 2014. He loved to cruise, snorkel, and to spend time near the water, all with his wife. We moved to Florida in 2015 to enjoy doing all the things we loved to do together. His children fondly remember him for his extravagant fireworks displays, annual Super Bowl parties, summers at the pool, and his carefree spirit.

He was married to his loving wife, LaDonna J. Farrell, on Oct. 23, 2010, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was the most loving husband and will forever be remembered in her heart.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, LaDonna; daughter, Kristen; sons, Thomas, Matthew, and Timothy; two grandchildren, Ryan and Quinn; sisters, Gerry Passaretti of North Carolina and Barbara Smith of Arizona; his brother-in-law and best friend, Steve Murphy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Farrell and Evelyn Farrell (Sullivan), and his beloved son, Patrick Farrell.

The family is in the process of planning a memorial service (to celebrate his life) in Saugerties, N.Y.; details to follow at a later date.
