Robert Alonzo Beatty Sr., 92, of Wallkill, died Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh.

He was born in the town of Lloyd, Jan. 4, 1926, a son of the late Jennie Simkins Beatty and Floyd Beatty.

Robert was predecease­d by the love of his life, Eileen Andrea New Beatty; his brother, Roger F. Beatty; great-grandson, JJ Matthew McGrath; sisterin-law, MaryJane Beatty; and brother-in-law, David Hollingswo­rth Sr.

Robert was a Wold War II veteran, having served with the 41st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Armor Division. After serving his country during World War II, he enlisted again in 1954, serving in the U.S. Air Force until he retired in 1968. He than worked for Finance and Accounting at the United States Military Academy at West Point until finally retiring from government service to spend time with family and friends.

He was a great storytelle­r with a wicked sense of humor. He loved playing and listening to music, bird watching, gardening and all of his many animals throughout his life.

He is survived by his children: Robert A. Beatty Jr. and his wife Julie of Rosendale, Barbara A. Beatty of Newburgh, and Julia A. McGrath, also of Newburgh; his grandchild­ren and their families: grandson Ricci L. Beatty and his wife Lorissa of Kerhonkson and greatgrand­children, Aiden, Preston, and Mason; grandson Keith J. and wife Ilsa McGrath of Wappingers Falls and great-grandchild­ren Kate, Edgar, Gabriela, and Joshua; and grandson Robert A. Beatty III and wife Caitlin of Rosendale.

Robert is also survived by his two sisters, Anne Van Vlack of Millbrook and Jean Albrecht and husband Stephen of Pleasant Valley. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh. The Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate. American Legion Post 1219 Color Guard and U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force representa­tives will conduct military honors. There are no calling hours at the funeral home.
