Gerald M. ‘Jerry’ Sickler, 70, of Stone Ridge

Gerald M. “Jerry” Sickler, 70, a former longtime resident of Stone Ridge died Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine, where he had been a resident since 2009.

He was born in Jersey City, N.J., on Aug. 29, 1947, a son of the late Joseph and Irene Speer Sickler.

Jerry was an avid New York Yankees fan and had a fine collection of Yankees memorabili­a. He also enjoyed bowling, strawberry milkshakes, and Buffalo pizza.

Jerry especially enjoyed food and family gatherings. His famous quotes were “By the way .... ,” and “It just so happens ..... ” He will be missed by his family that loved him dearly.

Jerry is survived by four sisters, Sharon Mergendahl, with whom he use to live in Stone Ridge, Sheila Beechel of Florida, Irene Hoffstatte­r and Sandi Jacobson, both of Saugerties; and four brothers, Charles Sickler of West Hurley, Michael Sickler of Ulster Park, Terrence Sickler of Saugerties, and Darren Sickler of Stormville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A sister, Barbara Carrano, and two brothers, Joseph H. Sickler Jr. and Gary Sickler, all died previously.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday from 10 a.m. until

noon. The Rev. Michael Phillips, pastor of the Trinity Church in Saugerties, will officiate his funeral service at noon. The family encourages everyone to wear something of New York Yankees to the services in Jerry’s memory.

Interment will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery in Kingston.
