Shady church announces services for Easter week
SHADY, N.Y. » The United Methodist Church of Shady, 13 Church Road, has announced its schedule of Easter week services.
A Holy Thursday service will take place March 29 at 7 p.m. A covered-dish supper will be served before the service at 5:30 p.m.
The Easter Sunday service will take place April 1 at 8 a.m.

Maundy Thursday breakfast at Kingston church
KINGSTON, N.Y. » The Fair Street Reformed Church, 209 Fair St., will host the 57th Annual Maundy Thursday Breakfast on March 29 at 9:30 a.m.
A continental breakfast will be served followed, by a service of inspiration in the sanctuary. The guest speaker will be Sister Carol Perry. All are welcome to attend the service, even those unable to attend the breakfast.

Synagogue starts speakers fund in rabbi’s memory
KINGSTON, N.Y. » Congregation Emanuel of the Hudson Valley, 243 Albany Ave., is accepting donations to the Rabbi Jonathan Eichborn Memorial Speakers Fund.
Eichborn was the synagogue’s spiritual leader for 36 years, prior to his retirement in 2001. He died last May at the age of 80.
At the recommendation of Eichhorn’s family, the fund will provide honoraria for speakers invited to address the congregation and community at large on topics that include Judaism, social action, interfaith efforts and community activities. These were areas that Eichhorn had a special interest in and to which he devoted much of his time and energy. He was an advocate for the poor and homeless and founded the Ulster County Religious Counsel, which brought together clergy and lay people of different faiths. In addition, Eichborn also served as a part-time chaplain in the New York state prison system.
