Rocco Migliorelli, 89, of Red Hook

-

Rocco Migliorelli, 89, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, Conn.

Born on July 24, 1928, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late Angelo and Concetta (Giovanni) Migliorelli. Rocco married Benita Mancuso on Nov. 21, 1953, at the Holy Rosary Church in the Bronx, and she survives at home in Red Hook.

Rocco was a longtime member of Monumental Lodge No. 374, F&AM, Tivoli.

For many years, Rocco and his family owned and operated Migliorelli Farm, based in Tivoli, N.Y.

A farmer for life, he started farming in the Bronx with his father, Angelo, and their draft horse, Buster. His passion for farming and gardening carried over into his older years and he continued to grow his Broccoli Rabe and flowers in his home garden after he “retired” from working in his fields.

A larger-than-life man, Rocky was an avid wine drinker, Yankees fan, and loving family man; he enjoyed his life to the fullest. Rocky lived his life in a simple way and always thought of others before himself. Some of the words that describe the man he was: Honest, Strong, Dependable, Loyal, Tough, Fulfilled, Grounded, Giving, Outspoken, Solid, Rocklike – Rocky!

We will miss YOU and are glad to have known you. You will always be loved and remembered fondly!

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, Rocco is survived by his children, MaryAnn (Louis) Rosolen of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., Catherine (Robert “Bird”) MacKay of Red Hook, N.Y., Joyce (Sal) Quattrociocchi of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., and Kenneth (Jennifer Howland) Migliorelli of Tivoli, N.Y.; his loving grandchildren, Carly (Dan Stafford) Migliorelli, Rachel (T.J.) Hourihan, Chelsea (Christian Johnson) Migliorelli, Sam Migliorelli, Shawn (Tiffany) Horning, Maria Quattrociocchi, and Catherine Quattrociocchi; his beloved great-grandchildren, Saige Marie Hourihan and Maverick Cole Horning; a brother; two sisters; along with countless extended family, friends, and colleagues.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Friday, March 30, 2018, from 1 to 6 p.m. At the conclusion of calling hours, Monumental Lodge No. 374, F&AM, of Tivoli, N.Y., will conduct services. Interment will be private in Red Church Cemetery in Tivoli, N.Y.
