The Met Live in HD screens at the Bardavon
The Met Live in HD series continues on Saturday, March 31, at 1 p.m. with a performance of Mozart’s comedy “Cosi fan tutte (Women are like That”)” on Saturday, March 31, at 1 p.m. at the Bardavon, 35 Market St., Poughkeepsie.
In “Cosi fan tutte,” a cynical older gentleman bets his two young friends that their sweethearts, who are sisters, will betray them if given a chance. In the original production, set in 18thcentury Naples, the men pretend to go off to war, reappear disguised as wealthy Albanians and promptly begin wooing each other’s girlfriends.
The cast features Amanda Majeski as the conflicted Fiordiligi; Serena Malfi as her sister, Dorabella; Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara as their feisty maid, Despina; Ben Bliss and Adam Plachetka as the sisters’ fiancés, Ferrando and Guglielmo; and Christopher Maltman as the cynical Don Alfonso.
There will be a pre-opera talk by Leslie Gerber 30 minutes before curtain time.
Tickets are $28 for adults, $26 for Bardavon members and $20 for children ages 12 and under.
