Marie Frances Swift, 78, of Kingston
KINGSTON » Marie Frances Swift, 78, of Catherine St., Kingston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus.
She was born in Kingston, N.Y., on April 4, 1939, a daughter of the late Roswell and Lillian (Coumbes) Bradford.
A homemaker, she enjoyed holidays, cooking, camping, and car rides. Most of all, she loved spending her time with family and friends. She was well known to most as “Grandma” and was always good for a story and a laugh.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, Rosalyn Ramsdell (Kirk) and Cheryle Swift (Bob LaTorre), all of Kingston; one son, Ronald “RJ” Swift (Lola), of Cottekill; one loving sister and close friend, Rosemary Hasbrouck (Richard) of Accord; her beloved brother, Robert Bradford of Saugerties; two other brothers, William Bradford and Roswell Bradford of Kingston; and her two closest grandchildren who were also her caretakers, Joseph Swift (Jasmine Alexander) and Brenda Demskie (James Landerway) of Kingston. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by her late husband, Ronald J. Swift Sr., “Ronnie,” who died in 1976.
The service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. Pastor Arlene B. Dawber will officiate. Burial will follow at Montrepose Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
