Kairos: A Consort of Singers performs April 29
WHAT: Performance by Kairos: A Consort of Singers WHEN: April 29 at 3 p.m.
WHERE: Holy Cross Monasters, 1615 Route 9W, West Park DETAILS: Kairos: A Consort of Singers continues its 2017-2018 season on with a program titled “In the Spirit.” The concert presents pieces that evoke the spiritual, the ghostly and the mystical. Thoughtful, haunting and rapturous, the program dips into the repertoire of five centuries and includes a motet by J.S. Bach, as well as several startlingly forward-looking madrigals from the 16th and 17th centuries. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors, and $5 for youngsters and students with a valid student ID. Beginner’s dance workshop at Staatsburgh site
WHAT: Beginner’s dance workshop WHEN: April 29 at 1 p.m. WHERE: Staatsburgh State Historic Site, 75 Mills Mansion Drive, Staatsburg DETAILS: Here’s your chance to dance in the Millses’ grand dining room. Workshop attendees will learn the scandalous dances of the Gilded Age, the waltz and the tango, from Joe Donato, “Ballroom Joe,” of Hudson Valley Dance Depot. No experience necessary — and no partners needed. Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the program. The cost is $15, per person, $12 for Friends of Mills Mansion members.
