Graduated
• U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Eric Reimers, the son of Saugerties residents, graduated from basic training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.
Airmen completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
A 2007 Saugerties High School graduate, Reimers graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 2010, with a bachelor’s degree.
He is the son of Doreen and Charles Reimers of Saugerties.
Retired
• William Mansfield of Rhinebeck, a staff sergeant with the New York Army National Guard, retired.
He was assigned to the Camp Smith Training Site in Cortlandt. He entered the military in 1990.
Promoted
The following area residents serving in the New York Army National Guard were promoted:
• Hunter Knapp of Rhinebeck, serving with the 1108th
Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), to the rank of private first class.
• Austin Robbins of Accord, N.Y., serving with Company C, 2-108th Infantry, to the rank of private.
• Samuel Talerico of Highland, serving with Company E (Forward Support Company Brigade Engineer Battalion), 427th Brigade Support Battalion, to the rank of staff sergeant.
• Bailey Young of Mount Marion, serving with the Intelligence and Sustainment Company, 42nd Infantry Division, to the rank of private.
Re-enlisted
• Hassan Jamal of Kingston, a sergeant in the New York Army National Guard, re-enlisted.
He is serving with the 1156th Engineer Company.
Enlisted
The following area residents enlisted in the New York Army National Guard were welcomed into their units after completing basic combat training and advanced individual training:
• Pvt. Gretchen Wagner of New Paltz, serving in the 1569th Transportation Company.
• Pvt. Brandon Charpentier of Kerhonkson, serving in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry.
• Pvt. Ashley Wesolowski of Pine Bush, serving in the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 104th Military Police Battalion.
They were welcomed into their units after a transition ceremony at the Leeds Armory in Catskill on March 11. The ceremony marked their completion of the National Guard Recruit Sustainment Program, a preparatory training program that provides new recruits with training, lessons and skills to excel at their initial military training.
