A village woman has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a sheriff’s deputy after demanding prescription medications at an urgent-care facility and then from a hospital, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Ingrid S. Anthony, 51, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony assault, the misdemeanors of menacing and resisting arrest, and the violations of harassment and disorderly conduct, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s Office Lt. Abram Markiewicz said deputies responded to Immediate Medical Care at 112 ShopRite Blvd. in Ellenville on April 6 for a report of a female demanding prescription medications.

When Anthony was denied medications, she allegedly “became irate and created a disturbance,” and she fled before deputies arrived, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

A short time later on the same day, a 911 call was received from Ellenville Regional Hospital reporting that Anthony was there and creating a disturbance, the Sheriff’s Office said. When deputies arrived, Anthony began fighting with them, causing one to suffer minor face and leg injuries, Markiewicz said.

Anthony, who also was injured in the altercation, was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital’s Broadway Campus in Kingston for treatment, but she was released before she could be arrested, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The lieutenant said he was not aware of what type of drug Anthony was seeking.

An arrest warrant was obtained Saturday, and deputies went to Anthony’s residence, where, after another reported struggle, she was taken into custody.

Anthony was arraigned in Wawarsing Town Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

She was released from jail on Saturday after posting bail, according to a jail official.
