High school names its top 10 seniors
HIGHLAND, N.Y. » Highland High School has announced the top 10 academic students in its Class of 2018, including the valedictorian and salutatorian.
The valedictorian is Arianna Ranalli, daughter of Barry and Teresa Ranalli of Highland. She has a 102.66 grade average.
Ranalli is the vice president of the school’s Interact Club, president of the Mathletes and co-president of the French Honor Society. She also is a member of the Science Olympiad team, National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Ranalli plans to attend Northeastern University in Boston to study mechanical engineering.
Dean Riley, son of Timothy and Patricia Riley of Highland, is the salutatorian with a grade average of 101.62.
Riley is president of the school’s Student Council, co-president of the Interact Club, co-president of the National Honor Society chapter, president of Model UN, and treasurer of the French Honor Society. He also is a member of the Mathletes and the Fed Challenge, and is the student representative to the Board of Education.
Riley plans to attend American University in Washington, D.C., where he will major in business administration with a minor in political science.
The other students in the high school’s academic top 10 are Kev Marleau, Shawn Jackson, Michelle Ling, Dylan Saffir, Kimberly Segura, Emily Peterson, Alecia Wilk and Kerri Lockhart.
