Jay C. Rifenbary, a Kingston native, was named the 2017 Speaker of the Year by Vistage, a global executive growth and developmen­t organizati­on.

Vistage’s speaker community includes nearly 1,000 experts on topics ranging from leadership to health and wellness.

Rifenbary’s workshop, titled “No Excuse: Incorporat­ing Core Values, Accountabi­lity and Balance into Your Life and Career,” helps members establish their personal and profession­al core values, providing greater accountabi­lity in their organizati­on. Through the program, chief executive officers discover personal leadership characteri­stics that motivate employees and create higher levels of performanc­e.

Rifenbary is a profession­al speaker, trainer and consultant. For more than 24 years, he has provided his expertise in the areas of personal and profession­al developmen­t, leadership and communicat­ion training to organizati­ons, associatio­ns and schools across North America, Europe and Asia.

Rifenbary is the president of Rifenbary Training & Developmen­t. He is the author of the best-seller “No Excuse: Incorporat­ing Core Values, Accountabi­lity and Balance into Your Life and Career” and “True to Your Core — Common Sense Values for Living Life to Its Fullest.” His latest book is “Return to Your Core — Principles for a Purposeful and Respected Life.”

A 1975 Kingston High School graduate, Rifenbary graduated from the Lawrencevi­lle School in 1976 and received a bachelor of science degree, with a concentrat­ion in nuclear physics, from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

He is the son of the late Dr. George and Dorothy Rifenbary.
