Saugerties rallies to thump Onteora

Trailing 2-0 in the first, Saugerties High surged ahead, putting up a pair of eight-spots to down Onteora 20-2 in nonleague baseball action Tuesday.

“While we hit the ball the way we should have today, we lost focus defensivel­y and that can’t happen,” Sawyers coach Micheal Pugliese said. “We were able to take full advantage of these innings to help develop our pitching staff.

“Hopefully offensivel­y guys can build on these atbats moving forward.

Ty Gallagher hit his first high school home run in the second during a fourrun Sawyers’ rally. Brandon Numssen got the win, striking out one, while allowing four hits and no earned runs during three innings.

Evan Normann doubled and had four RBI; Jake Roberti went 4 for 4, with a triple, double and four RBI; Nick Brennan had 2 RBI; while Gallagher drove in four runs for the Sawyers.

Bret Berryann drove in two runs and Anthony Umiley, hit two singles to pace the Eagles. Roosevelt 5, New Paltz 3

At Hyde Park, Owen Pacchiana tossed a completega­me, five-hitter, with nine strikeouts to lead the Presidents to the non-league win.

James Cook had three hits and three RBI for (6-2) Roosevelt, while Alex Barrese led the Huguenots with two hits and an RBI. Rondout 7 Highland 4

At Highland, Ben Hikade tossed 6 2/3 for the win and added two hits and two RBI to lead the Ganders.

Dallas Romaguera, meanwhile, went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the win.

Max Vidal, Josh Sutton (RBI), and Kevin Brennie had two hits each for the Huskies, while Nick Turner added one hit and two RBI in the loss. Pine Plains 19, Millbrook 1

At Millbrook, winning pitcher Adam Funk allowed one run on three hits, with 11 strikeouts over five innings in the game stopped after five innings by the mercy rule.

Derek Koch, meanwhile, led the (6-1, 5-0) Bombers’ offense, going 4 for 4, with a pair of doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. Matt Funk (home run, double, three RBI, two runs scored), Shane Benziger (two doubles, two runs scored, RBI) and Tyler Funk (three runs scored) went 2 for 3 each, while Jacob Lydon was 2 for 4, with two RBI and a run scored.

Calab McCaul (two runs scored RBI), Evan Proper (two runs scored) and Ethan Generelli (RBI, run scored) had a hit each, while Adam Funk scored three runs in the win.

Losing pitcher Eli Stowe (2 1/3 innings, 13 hits, 17 runs) went 2 for 2, while Pat Mauro drove in the lone run for the Blazers.

At Ellenville, Caleb McMenemy and Lucas Dodd earned straight-sets victories, while the doubles teams of Lucian McMenemy and Thomas Sudlik and Loic Roels and Zach Howonstein swept to victories to lead the Eagles.

At Pine Plains, Devin Watt and Carter Vail earned straight-sets singles wins and the Sawyers swept doubles to defeat the Bombers.
