Clare A. Egan, 88, of Kingston died Monday, April 30, 2018, at the home of her niece.

Born April 17, 1930, in Kingston; she was the daughter of the late Frank and Juletta (McGuiness) Egan.

A 1951 graduate of the Benedictin­e Hospital School of Nursing, Clare worked at the Benedictin­e for 35 years until her retirement in 1995. As a Staff Nurse and Relief Charge Nurse, Clare worked on units specializi­ng in all aspects of medical/surgical nursing with a focus on oncology, AIDS, and HIV patients. Previously, she had worked at French Hospital and Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

Clare is survived by her stepchildr­en, Fran Friedenber­g and Sandra Raffkind; her sisterin-law, Joan Egan Singer; her neices and nephews, Helen and Robert Reston, Frank and Marietta Byrne, Jay and Linda Byrne, Beth Byrne, Michael Byrne, Clare Byrne, Lisa Egan, Daria Egan, Joseph Carey, Kathleen CareyMihm, John Carey, MD, and Jane Carey, Frank Carey, Julie Carey, Mary and James Leib, Liz Carey, Frank and Philipa Egan.

Her husband, Joseph Toubail, died in 1994. Her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Byrne, Frank Egan, Juletta Carey, John Egan, James Egan, and Robert Egan; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Egan; her nephews, Daniel Byrne, Brian Egan, Kiernan Egan and Martin Carey, also died previously.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh. com Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral procession will form Friday 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
