Austin G. Quick, 91, of Tillson

-

Austin G. Quick, son of the late Austin and Vera Gray Quick, died at home Thursday, May 3, 2018.

He was born in Rochester Center on April 17, 1927.

Austin served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Duluth. He owned his own plumbing and heating business in New Paltz for more then 50 years, providing service to many area homes throughout the region.

He retired to Tillson, where he spent his days cutting firewood and caring for his chickens, helping neighbors, friends, and family with whatever needed fixing.

Throughout his life, he was infatuated with most everything that had an engine; he would tinker with anything — repair most all — and “Austinize” everything he touched.

In his early years, he enjoyed his “camp” in Phoenica, where he had many hunting excursions — family weekends and great summers. He enjoyed his home in Florida also for over 20 years.

He leaves behind his wife, Ethel “Joy” Quick; his last surviving sibling, Charles Quick; his children, Larry Quick, Kathy Klonowski, Dawn Ankru (Toomas), Vicki Briggs (Thomas), and Debbie Nace (Dave Jabs); his grandchildren, Kelly, Cody, Cortny, Larry, Scott, and Chrissy; great-grandchildren, Conner and Victoria; and a dear friend, Ray Ciccarelli.

He was predeceased by Julia Clearwater Quick, his wife; and their son, Austin G. Quick Jr., along with two brothers and five sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Pine Bush Cemetery, Route 209, Kerhonkson. The Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate. Military honors will be by Rosendale-Tillson Post 1219, American Legion.

There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation are requested to Post 1219 American Legion, P.O. Box 103, Tillson, N.Y. 12486. (www.GJMoylanFuneralHome.com)
