AMERICAN LEGION Baseball Prospectiv­e players that attend the following schools are obligated to try out for the following teams—Saugerties (Saugerties Post 72); Kingston (Kingston Post 150), Highland (Lloyd Post 93) and New Paltz (New Paltz Post 176). Nonbase school players who attend schools such as Onteora, Rondout Valley, John A. Coleman Catholic, Marlboro, Wallkill, Roosevelt, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Pine Plains, Tri-Valley and Poughkeeps­ie shall try out for the team who’s base school is nearest to their parents’ or guardians’ domicile. This is calculated by the MapQuest 2018 program using the shortest driving distance. Instructio­n focuses on fundamenta­ls, including hitting, fielding, pitching, throwing and base running. There is also intense work on learning and improving skills, effective drills and developing proper work habits. Athletes are grouped based on age and ability. Players have the opportunit­y to learn about more than one position during specialty grups. Coachto-athlete ratio is 1:12. Lead Instructor is Ulster head coach Steven Morse. Please bring a glove, bat, baseball cap, long athletic pants and footwear (rubber spikes/sneakers). Catchers should bring a chest protector, helmet, shin guards and facemask if they have them. This mixedlevel class incorporat­es vigorous and stimulatin­g strength-building postures for the first part of class, then transition­s to calming, flexibilit­y-promoting postures for the second. The session finishes with guided meditation for total physical and mental relaxation. As you refine your physical and mental skills through the yoga process, your body will feel balanced, i.e., stimulated yet relaxed, while your mind will be focused and peaceful. This class is not for absolute beginners. Students must know basic yoga postures. Instructor is Leslie Snow, who has taught yoga for seven years and been a personal trainer for 10. Activities include, but not limited to, age appropriat­e arts and crafts, sports instructio­n, nature studies, playground activities and weekly field trips.
