Carmella ‘Moe’ Kelderhouse, 79, of Saugerties
Carmella “Moe” Kelderhouse, 79, of Saugerties, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Archcare at Ferncliff in Rhinebeck, with her loving family by her side. Born March 28, 1939, in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Perry) Alecca.
Moe worked all her life, her most recent job being Lezette Bus Company until 2017. She loved competitive sports, including cards, softball, and bingo. Her family was her world; she loved each and every one of them unconditionally. She had a strong faith in God and believed there was nothing greater than love.
Moe leaves behind her loving daughter, Debbie Cacchillo and her husband Louis; her grandchildren, Salvatore Cacchillo (Sabrina Fales), Leah Martineau and her husband Ryan, Thomas, Racquel, and Joseph Kelderhouse; step-grandsons, Michael and Steven Pasqua; her great-grandchildren, Derek and David Martineau, Trinity Kelderhouse, and Aria Thomas; her daughter-in-law, Linda Kelderhouse; sisters, Frances Riccio and her husband Joseph, Joan Whitaker and her husband Louis; her brother-in-law, Peter Kelderhouse and his wife Anne; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Moe was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Mary (Perry) Alecca; the love of her life, her husband of 58 years, Richard J. Kelderhouse Jr.; her son, Joseph Kelderhouse; greatgrandson, Donovan Kelderhouse; her brothers, Anthony, John and Michael Alecca; and sister, Rose Polocastro.
Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh.com). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral procession will form Saturday at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Glasco. Inurnment will be held in the Veterans’ Section of New Paltz Rural Cemetery at a later date.
