Rain threat postpones tournaments
The Mid-Hudson Athletic League, seeing the forecast, has postponed its Super Saturday of baseball, softball and boys tennis events to Monday.
The early rounds through the quarterfinals of the tennis tournament will now be on Monday at Bard College, starting at 2 p.m. The semifinals and finals will be moved to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The baseball was switched to Monday, still at Saugerties’ Cantine Complex. The American Conference final between Saugerties and Marlboro will be at Cantine Field and the National Conference game with Pine Plains and Spackenkill is at Lorenz Field, both starting at 4 p.m. The championship game follows at 6:30 at Cantine.
The softball tournament first has to settle a three-way tie among Ellenville, Spackenkill and Dover for the Division III crown. That
will be Monday at Highland’s Tony Williams Park. Dover won a coin toss to get the first-game bye. Spackenkill plays Ellenville at 3 p.m., with the winner then facing the Dragons at approximately 5 p.m.
With that division winner decided, the MHAL’s softball tournament will be back at Highland on Tuesday. The conference finals are at 3 p.m., with Roosevelt playing Marlboro for the American crown at Williams Park and Pine Plains taking on the Division III champ at the high school. The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the park.
