Donald W. Smith Sr., 70, of Accord

ACCORD » Donald V. Smith Sr., of Accord, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in the comfort of his home. He was 70 years old.

Donald was born on March 9, 1948, in Kingston, N.Y.; he was the son of the late Friend and Viola (Miller) Smith.

Mr. Smith owned PriceRite Sanitation in Accord from 1987 until his retirement in 2014.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine E. Smith; his sister, Valerie; and his brother, James.

Surviving are his daughter, Kimberly Cox and her husband Thomas of Stone Ridge; his sons, Donald Smith Jr. and his wife Carrie of Fort Montgomery and Michael Smith of Accord; his grandson, Shawne Rider Jr.; his stepgranddaughters, Caitlin and Delaney Cox; his sisters, Carol, Janice, Barbara, and Sandy; and his brother, Harry.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, from noon to 2 p.m., with a celebration of his life immediately following at the H.B. Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson, N.Y. Burial will follow at Accord Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Donald’s name to the American Cancer Society, Hudson Valley District, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, N.Y. 12553.
