KBA Hall of Fame inductees

Louis Swart, Donald Quesnell, Donald Wells, Clayton Tingle, Dick Morra, Louis Leccese to be honored Friday

The Kingston Bowling Associatio­n Hall of Fame will induct six new members, Louis Swart, Donald Quesnell, Donald Wells, Clayton Tingle, Dick Morra and Louis (Lou) Leccese on Friday.

Swart, 80, a member for more than 19 years, and Quesnell, 63, a 40-year member, are being inducted in the ability category.

Swart earned the High Associatio­n Average for 2016-2017 of 226, the High Triple award of 796 bowled, a 298 game, six 299 games and 14 or more 300 games, two 800 series and over 200, 700 series and he also has a KBA Doubles Award with a 1401.

Swart, who has also bowled in Poughkeeps­ie and other houses across the Hudson Valley has bowled in the KBA Tournament for more than 15 years.

In 2014 Swart won the Doubles Championsh­ip in Scranton, Pennsylvan­ia with a 1771 No-Tap. In 2009 he bowled an 843 series with back-to back 300 games. He was the Dutchess/Putnam Associatio­n doubles champ in 1993-1994

Quesnell, 63, a KBA member for about 40 years, has remained in the top tier of local bowlers for many years, averaging a 210 in both 2006-2007 and 2007-2008, a 229 in 2010-2011, a 212 in 20112012, a 211 in 2013-2014, a 214 in 2015-2016 and 210 in 2016-2017.

He’s taken part in the KBA Tournament for over 25 years, earning a High Associatio­n twice,

along with an unknown triple and another award, he’s rolled two 298 honor games, four 299s, a 300 and 50+ 700 games.

Quesnell rolled a 790 in his high series, has received a 7-10 patch, earned four team awards, three handicap, one scratch and two senior tournament titles.

He’s served on the KBA’s Board of Directors for 10+ years, serving as President for two year, Vice president for six and is currently Scholarshi­p Vice President.

Quesnell’s also been a Kingston youth Bowling Assistant for 20+ years.

Donald Wells is being inducted for meritoriou­s Service in honor of how seriously he’s taken the sport and how many years he devoted to the Marbletown Legion Mixed with his fatherin-law

Wells. a KBA member since 1977, has been President since 1995.

“Don always took the office of president with pride and for many years he attended the annual KBA meeting in May,” a press release said. “He not only attended but many times he would bring concerns to the board, which were taken under advisement and acted upon by the board.”

Tingle, a KBA member for more than 20 years, will be elected in the Meritoriou­s Service with High Ability Category.

Tingle, president of the Father & Son League, has bowled for many years with over a 200 average, averag- ing a 215 in 2005-2006 and a 210 in 2008-2009. He’s averaged 200+ for 14 out of the last 17 years.

Tingle, who’s served as Sergeant at Arms on the Friday Nigh Hustlers for more than 10 years, has worked with younger bowlers on being better sportsmen over the years.

He’s bowled in the KBA tournament for over 20 years, earning a High Associatio­n Triple award 826 in 2002-2003.

He’s rolled two 200 games, an 800 series and 45 700 series.

Dick Morra, and Louis (Lou) Leccese were each inducted in the Veteran category.

Morra, 88, a 45-yearplus KBA member, started bowling when he was 20 with his wife and has bowled in many leagues over the years.

Morra currently bowls in the Tuesday morning Senior League.

His average reached a peak of 193 in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His highest series was a 716. While his average now hovers in the low 100s he continues to have fun. Each Monday he can be found watching his daughter and granddaugh­ter bowl.

He’s bowled in many KBA and Senior tournament­s over the years.

Leccese, 75, who’s owned Lou’s Pro Shop at Patel’s Kingston Lanes and its predecesso­r Hoe Bowl for 25 years, can be found most days working on bowing balls.

A longtime KBA member, Leccese bowled in KBA Tournament­s for more than 10 years before health reasons forced him to retire from competitio­n.

During his career he rolled one 298 game, one 299 and a 300 game when he was member of Mannie’s Barber Shop League. He also had four 700 series.

Leccese bowled in the Frontier League for 15 years, serving as its president for five years.
