Red Hook, Highland advance to Class C final
It will be threetime defending champion Highland High against fourth-seeded Red Hook for the Section 9, Class C boys lacrosse championship today after both teams scored tough semifinal victories Tuesday.
Red Hook knocked off topseeded Rondout 11-9 and Highland held off Goshen 10-9 in the semis. The finals are 6:30 p.m. at Marlboro. Red Hook 11, Rondout 9
At Kyserike, Brian Kelly had three goals and four assists, Hudson Miller had three goals and one assist, Cian Ryan scored twice, Jon Chilinski also tallied and Owen Sageman added an assist to lead (11-6) Red Hook.
“We didn’t bring our ‘A’ game. Red Hook played well,” Rondout coach Tony Tocco said. “We had opportunities we didn’t capitalize on.”
Jason Perez had three goals and an assist, Joey MacCreery scored twice, Spencer Sands added a goal and two assists, Sam Serrano had a goal and an assist, Greg Neumann and Caiden Frey both scoredf and Jarek Rawl dished out two assists to pace (14-3) Rondout.
Gabe Yozzo had seven saves for Red Hook and Ian Houck made 11 for the Ganders. Highland 10, Goshen 9
At Goshen, Jesse Weaver had three goals and three assists, Roger Hegeman had a hat trick and one assist, Chris Hammond also scored three times, Christian Canino tallied twice and
Onteora’s Ori Grady and
Rhinebeck’s John Fleming also competed on the second day of the section tourney.
Grady posted an overall 85-88—173, with Fleming posting 86-99—185.
