Liberty man admits sexual conduct with child, faces prison term

-

A Sullivan County man has admitted to engaging in oral sex with a 12-year-old child last June in the town of Wawarsing, according to Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright.

Leoneudi Agueda, 24, of 44 Dwyer Ave., Liberty, pleaded guilty in Ulster County Court Thursday to criminal sexual act, a felony, Carnright said.

Agueda admitted that on or about June 8, 2017, he engaged in oral sexual conduct with another person who was less than 15 years old, Carnright said. Agueda also waived his right to appeal.

The defendant was arrested on June 15, 2017, following an investigation by state police and at the Wawarsing barracks. He was indicted by an Ulster County grand jury on Feb. 8, 2018.

The sexual act occurred at a parking area off state Route 52, according to authorities, who said the defendant also faced misdemeanor charges in Sullivan County.

In addition, Agueda was charged by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office on Feb. 6 with two counts of bribing a witness after he allegedly offering money to two witnesses in exchange for their altered testimony in the sexual conduct case, Carnright said. He had been released on property bond when the alleged bribery took place.

Agueda is to be sentenced on July 27, 2018. He faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison, which can be followed by up to 10 years of post-release supervision. He will also be required to register for a minimum of 20 years under the New York State Sexual Offender Registration Act, Carnright said.
