F. Clyfford Hazéll, 80, of Wilbur Avenue, died at his home on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Born June 6, 1937, in New York City, he was the second child of four, born to Agatha Pero and Lawrence C. Hazéll.

Clyff served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Sill, Okla. After his discharge, he met Norma Jean Barber. They married in 1961 and were later blessed with a son, Clyfford D. “Kip” Hazéll. Clyff was a journalist and had written many poems about the family. He also wrote poems for Hallmark Greeting Cards, many of which were published, and he worked in advertisin­g for Zebra Associated in New York City. While residing in Brooklyn, N.Y., he served as an elder at Hanson Place SDA Church. After settling in Kingston, he worked for Morgan Linen for some time, then became head of the laundry department at Benedictin­e Hospital (Now HealthAlli­ance) until his retirement. After retirement, he continued to work for the hospital per diem, doing patient transport until his untimely passing. He was devoted in staying healthy and was diligent in working out faithfully several times a week at the YMCA. He was an avid reader, loved classical music and played guitar.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Clyfford D. (Kip) Hazéll and his wife Roseann Singh-Hazéll; grandson, Devereaux Simeon Henry Hazell; brother, Conrad L. Hazéll; and sister, Verna D. H. Lomax. Nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends also survive.

A brother, Thomas Hazéll, predecease­d him.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh. com). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. A service will begin at noon. Burial will be in Fantinekil­l Cemetery, Ellenville.
