A marketplace billed “Hutton Fare” will operate this season at the Hutton Brickyards off North Street, officials announced this week.

In a press release, Hutton Brickyards spokeswoman Sara Gramling stated Hutton Fare would be a custom marketplace “celebrating food, beverages, and handmade and packaged products from around the Hudson Valley.”

Hutton Fare will take place at Hutton Brickyards at the banks of the Hudson River on four weekends: July 21 and 22; Aug. 18 and 19; Sept. 15

and 16; and Oct. 20 and 21.

“We are thrilled to be launching Hutton Fare, developed in the spirt of bringing people together around the best food and drink the Hudson Valley has to offer,” said Karl Slovin, president of MWest Holdings, the owner of Hutton Brickyards. “Hudson Valley is renowned for its handmade,

fresh, local food and drinks and we are looking forward to showcasing those items in this one-of-a-kind community experience.”

Mayor Steve Noble said in an email that the long under-used property is now hosting activity.

“It’s exciting to watch this long vacant property evolve into a new and unique waterfront venue,” Noble said. “A key part of my administration’s economic development agenda has been to support and

encourage waterfront development that highlights our natural and historic resources and the Hutton Brickyards development is an excellent example of that.”

Hutton Fare is seeking vendors to participate in the inaugural season and is accepting applications for prepared and packaged food and beverage, design and handmade items in the form of jewelry, clothing, furniture, ceramics, housewares, agriculture (vineyards,

produce, floral and dairy farms) and more. To submit a vendor application, visit: http://www.huttonbrickyards.com/huttonfare/.

Hutton Brickyards has been undergoing extensive renovations to prepare for the new season, including updated landscaping and improvements to the buildings and the addition of 26 bathroom stalls, five dressing rooms, a production office and a catering prep kitchen.

In April, the Kingston Planning Board approved a proposal to develop further the waterfront Hutton Brickyards property as a concert and special events venue.

The Hutton Brickyards had been the site of another outdoor marketplace known as “Smorgasburg.” That closed up at the end of last year.

Hutton Brickyards says it has worked to make it “as easy as possible to get to and from the space so that

guests can best enjoy the events — doubling the number of parking spots and adding a new, more convenient shuttle location.”

The press release stated that, during select events, customers will be able to drink at a new permanent bar with beer, cider and wine selections from the Hudson Valley.

Hutton Brickyards was once home to the Hutton Brick Works Co., which operated on the site from 1865 to 1980.
