Katherine J. Terpening, 92, of Saugerties

-

Katherine J. Terpening, 92, of Market Street, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born Feb. 5, 1926, in Cementon, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Ella Stewart. Katherine was the last surviving child from a loving family of eight siblings.

Katherine married former Town of Saugerties Supervisor George J. Terpening on Oct. 9, 1948. He predeceased her on Dec. 13, 2004.

After raising her children, Katherine began her career at Sawyer Savings Bank, working there for over 30 years. She loved going to ceramic classes and completed hundreds of projects as gifts to her children and grandchildren. However, her true love in life was her family, as she was a loving mother and grandmother. She thrived on planning birthday and holiday celebrations. She was known to not even end one celebration before planning the next.

Survivors include her children, Belinda (Doug) Robinson, George (Eileen Williams) Terpening, Sandra Terpening of Bradenton, Fla., and Melissa Nevil (Philip Palladino) of Kingston; granddaughters, Jennifer (James) Steipp, Krista (Tiber) Tomshaw, and Jordan (Daniel) Goss; and her lifelong best friend, Florence Wynne. She is also survived by a very special niece, Tulu McMonigal, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral procession will form at 9:15 a.m. Monday at SeamonWilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets. Thence to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Camp, where at 10 a.m., her funeral service will be conducted. Interment will follow in the Blue Mountain Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday from2to4and7to9 p.m. Family suggests donations in Katherine’s memory be made for upgrades to the George Terpening Memorial Park; checks may be sent to Melissa Nevil, 180 Ledge Road, Kingston, N.Y. 12401.

Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com.
