Stockade FC looks to get back into win column
NEW BRITAIN, CONN » Stockade FC seeks to bounce back from last week’s 5-1 loss to Greater Lowell FC when they square off against (2-0) Hartford City FC at 6 p.m. Saturday at Central Connecticut State University. Hartford blanked the Brooklyn Italians 3-0 on the road Sunday after opening the season with a 2-1 home victory over the defending NPSL Champion Elm City Express on May 12.
In Stockade FC’s match last week, Lowell struck early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Bruce Jeter connected on Jamal Lis-Simmons’s assist late in the half for Kingston’s only goal on the night. Lowell closed out the scoring with three unanswered goals.
Stockade defeated Hartford 2-1 in overtime in the team’s last meeting to win the NPSL’s Atlantic White Conference in King-
ston’s first-ever postseason win in July 2017.
Stockade, 1-1 in the NPSL’s North Atlantic Conference and 1-2 overall, played Hartford City to a 2-2 draw on the road after falling to them 2-1 at home in the season opener in two regular season meetings last year.
With the restructuring of the Atlantic Conference this season, and the elimination of the Blue and White Divisions, Saturday’s match will be the only meeting between Stockade and Hartford during the 2018 regular season.
Saturday’s contest is the second game of a threeweek road trip that will conclude with Stockade playing at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Wayne, New Jersey, against TSF FC.
Kingston returns home on June 2 to face the New York Athletic club.
Trailways will run a special fan bus to Saturday’s game, departing from the Trailways Bus Station at 400 Washington Ave. in Kingston at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
