Cameron Patrick Scheffel, Shokan, N.Y., at 24 years old, passed away suddenly into the arms of God on May 12, 2018, at Vassar Hospital, Poughkeeps­ie, N.Y. Cameron was born June 12, 1993, at Benedictin­e Hospital, Kingston, N.Y. the oldest son of Ursula Perry Scheffel, his loving, devoted and very proud mother.

Cameron graduated Onteora High School and Ulster County Community College with honors. He was continuing his education at the University of New Paltz, N.Y. He was the owner of Woodstock Mobiles Inc., a family business his mother started in 1987. Cameron and his brother Gabriel created thousands of kinetic sculptures, featured at the Philadelph­ia Museum of Art and many museums throughout the United States. His works of art have made thousands of customers very happy and he will live on through his art pieces that were sold all around the world. He was a consummate businessma­n and talented artist.

Cameron was a scholar with a brilliant mind who enjoyed history, philosophy, politics, astrology, economics, and science, and continuous­ly challenged his mind throughout his short life. He shared fond memories of his professors, Ray Raymond and Jules Albertini. He loved nature and enjoyed riding his bike at the reservoir, kayaking, fishing, all water sports, as well as cross country running. He was an avid sports fan and loved going to Madison Square Garden to watch the Rangers. His love of music ranged from Classical to the Eagles and he enjoyed cooking, traveling, and was a movie buff. What he enjoyed most was being with his brother, Gabriel, his best friend, and debating current events for hours on end. He loved to laugh and was hysterical­ly funny since he was a young child. He had many hopes and dreams, which will be continued through his brother, Gabriel.

As a young boy, Cameron enjoyed idyllic days at his family homestead in Shokan, N.Y., with his family, friends, and dog, Hazel. He also enjoyed his time at the Woodstock Youth Center. His childhood friends, Christophe­r Pollo, Terry Orlando, James Contini, Jackson Gross and many others shared beautiful moments with Cameron. He had precious memories of his beloved Godmother, Bernadette Rode, who he loved and admired throughout his life, along with his Godfather Paul Rode. Fond memories of many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will miss him forever.

Cameron was a devoted, loving son and brother. He had an incredible sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He loved life completely, was a gentle spirit, pure and innocent, peaceful, selfless and kind. Always positive and anxious to help the less fortunate. He had outstandin­g moral character.

Cameron enjoyed his family vacations with his brother and mother. He loved the ocean and camping on the Batten Kill, Vt., where his mother vacationed as a child. He cherished his time in New York City, especially Central Park, and showing his art pieces at Grand Central Terminal. He loved architectu­re and the Museum of Natural History.

Cameron will forever be remembered by his adoring aunts, uncles and cousins, especially Kyle and Laura Bell, Donna Biddle, Bridget Curry, Shannon Wolsey, and countless others whom were blessed to know him.

Cameron was preceded in death by his beloved grandmothe­r, Dionia Catherine Bouck Perry, who spirituall­y guided him throughout his life with her beautiful spirit and soul; cousin, Frederick Bell Jr.; loving aunt, Joanne Perry; great-grandmothe­r, Bridget McSpirit Bouck; great-grandparen­ts, Mary and Patrick Sottile; and grandfathe­rs Arthur Perry Sr. and Bernard Scheffel Sr.

A scholarshi­p will be establishe­d in his name for students pursuing education in Political Science, his true passion, near and dear to his heart.

There will be a celebratio­n of life ceremony at St. John’s in Hurley, N.Y., where Cameron made all his sacraments, at a later date. He was a practicing Catholic all of his life, but loved and respected all faiths. His legacy will live on through his brother, Gabriel Scheffel, and his mother, Ursula PerrySchef­fel, who will carry Cameron in their hearts the rest of their lives.
