Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday. BASEBALL Camps Senators Baseball Camp: For ages 7-12 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 16-20 at SUNY Ulster. Instruction focuses on fundamentals, including hitting, fielding, pitching, throwing and base running. There is also intense work on learning and improving skills, effective drills and developing proper work habits. Athletes are grouped based on age and ability. Players have the opportunity to learn about more than one position during specialty grups. Coach-to-athlete ratio is 1:12. Lead Instructor is Ulster head coach Steven Morse. Please bring a glove, bat, baseball cap, long athletic pants and footwear (rubber spikes/sneakers). Catchers should bring a chest protector, helmet, shin guards and facemask if they have them. This mixed-level class incorporates vigorous and stimulating strength-building postures for the first part of class, then transitions to calming, flexibility-promoting postures for the second. The session finishes with guided meditation for total physical and mental relaxation. As you refine your physical and mental skills through the yoga process, your body will feel balanced, i.e., stimulated yet relaxed, while your mind will be focused and peaceful. This class is not for absolute beginners. Students must know basic yoga postures. Instructor is Leslie Snow, who has taught yoga for seven years and been a personal trainer for 10. With a background in ballet, running and resistance training, she has studied martial arts for the last eight years, achieving a 2nd-degree black belt in Isshinryu Karate. Cost: $15. Saugerties Summer Youth Recreation Program: Pre-registration now open. Half day (9 a.m.-noon) and full day (9 a.m.-3 p.m.) programs offered for grades Pre-K through 8. Pre-K students must 4 years old and registered for Kindergarten in the fall. The 6-week program, held at the Cantine Veteran’s Memorial Complex. runs from July 8-Aug. 16. Activities include, but not limited to, age appropriate arts and crafts, sports instruction, nature studies, playground activities and weekly field trips. The child will be active outdoors all day under the direction of qualified, responsible counselors. Payments can be paid in installments.
