Dress Up Cinema events debut in Rosendale

WHAT: Screening of “Saturday Night Fever” WHEN: June 30, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the film starting at 7:15p.m. WHERE: Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St., Rosendale DETAILS: The theatre invites you to polish up your Brooklynes­e, dig deep into your closet, pull out the polyester, buckle up the platforms, spray up the ‘do, and head back to Brooklyn 1977 for a digitized presentati­on of “Saturday Night Fever.” The screening is the first in a planned series of Dress Up Cinema community-building, fun-fundraiser events. Raffles of new and vintage “Saturday Night Fever” memorabili­a, His-and-Hers Tony Manero Dress-Up Starter Kits, gift certificat­es to local restaurant­s and shops, a fourhour DJ session after the movie and other bling that will make you strut your stuff in the costume parade to the applause of the crowd. Advance tickets are $10, $8 for members and are available only online at rosendalet­heatre.org. Tickets at the door are $12, $10 for members. The after-party is free for all ticket holders. Library forum will explore The Band’s legacy

WHAT: Woodstock Library Forum WHEN: June 9 from 5 to 6 p.m. WHERE: Woodstock Library, 5 Library Lane, Woodstock DETAILS: This month’s forum will feature author and musician Craig Harris. His books include “The Band: Pioneers of Americana Music.” His program will revisit The Band’s legacy. He will share insights into the quintet’s music, connection to Bob Dylan, inner struggles and lasting importance. More than four decades after The Band’s original lineup played together, it’s influence on popular music remains strong. Since the death of drummer, mandolin player, vocalist and longtime Woodstock resident Levon Helm, its influence has spread even further. Admission is free.
