UEFA bans Man City manager Guardiola for 1st

Pep Guardiola will be banned from the touchline for Manchester City’s first game in the Champions League next season.

The City manager will also be banned for a further game if there’s a repeat offense during a probationary period next season after being found guilty of improper conduct during the Champions League quarterfinal secondleg loss to Liverpool in April.

After being sent to the stands for protesting a goal being disallowed and verbally abusing a referee, Guardiola appeared to send communications to his coaching staff from his second-half seat high in the main stand.

In a case from the first leg, Liverpool was fined 20,000 euros ($23,000) for crowd disturbances, including an attack on the City team bus and objects being thrown in the stadium.

Senators exec pleads not guilty to harrassment

Ottawa Senators assistant general manager Randy Lee is being allowed to return to Canada after pleading not guilty to allegations he made lewd comments and rubbed the shoulders of a 19-year-old hotel shuttle driver while in Buffalo for the NHL combine.

Neither Lee nor his attorney commented after the hearing Monday in Buffalo City Court.

Lee had to surrender his passport and had been unable to return to Ottawa since being arrested last week on a second-degree harassment charge. The alleged incident happened May 30 following an NHL event.

He’s scheduled to return to court June 22.

Lee faces a fine and up to 15 days in jail if found guilty of the violation, though Erie County District Attorney John Flynn has said he doesn’t expect to pursue jail time.

Bears TE Zach Miller gets 1-yr after gruesome leg

The Chicago Bears have re-signed veteran tight end Zach Miller to a one-year contract, clearing the way for him to return from a gruesome injury last October that nearly cost him his left leg.

Miller tore an artery while dislocating his knee trying to make a touchdown catch during the Week 8 game at New Orleans. He has undergone at least eight surgeries since then, but was walking on his own by late December.

Miller has spent the past three seasons with the Bears, starting 28 of 33 games while making 101 receptions for 1,161 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also spent three seasons with Jacksonville.

The Bears have signed versatile Trey Burton at tight end. He threw a touchdown to quarterback Nick Foles in Philadelphia’s Super Bowl win over New England.
