Bucks Budenholzer fills out new staff with ex-Hawks
New Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer is filling his staff with assistants who worked with him while he was with the Atlanta Hawks.
The Bucks named Darvin Ham, Taylor Jenkins, Charles Lee, Ben Sullivan and Patrick St. Andrews as assistant coaches.
All five assistants worked with Budenholzer this past season in Atlanta. Ham and Jenkins coached under Budenholzer for his entire five-year tenure as Hawks head coach.
Budenholzer and the Hawks mutually agreed to part ways after a 24-win season. The team is rebuilding after finishing with the worst record in the East.
Budenholzer was hired last month by the Bucks, replacing interim coach Joe Prunty. The 2015 NBA Coach of the Year retained Sean Sweeney from Prunty’s staff.
Angels two-way player Ohtani start scratched again
Shohei Ohtani has been removed from his start for the Los Angeles Angels against the Kansas City Royals after four innings because of a blister on his pitching hand.
It was the second time this season Ohtani left a game due to a blister on his right middle finger. He gave up three runs in two innings before exiting against Boston on April 17, but did not miss his next turn.
The two-way rookie star from Japan warmed up to start the fifth Wednesday night, but catcher Martin Maldonado called for a trainer. Angels manager Mike Scioscia also went to the mound to check on Ohtani, who eventually walked back to the dugout.
Ohtani gave up one run on four hits and three walks, striking out four. He did not get a decision.
Driver in fatal crash was watching football game
State police say a truck driver was watching a football game instead of the road when he struck and killed a motorcyclist on a Pennsylvania highway.
Police charged the 34-year-old driver Monday with felony homicide by vehicle and other offenses in connection with the death of 56-year-old John Baum.
Court records show the driver was watching a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs in October when his truck hit the back of Baum’s motorcycle on Interstate 81 near Carlisle.
Baum died at the scene, and Pennlive.com reports his sister, who was riding passenger, is still recovering from her injuries.
Records show the truck driver told police he was distracted at the time of the crash, but he blamed it on construction instead of the NFL game.
