The following items are based on informatio­n provided by officials in law enforcemen­t and the criminal justice system.

Livingston

• Drugs: Gerell Young, 22, of Livingston, was arrested by state police at Livingston at noon Thursday and was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance (narcotic). Young’s arrest followed an investigat­ion along with the state police Community Enforcemen­t Team Capital Region and the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office. The investigat­ion, begun earlier this year, found Young was allegedly selling heroin in Columbia county. He was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail pending a court appearance.

Lloyd

• Drugs: An 18-year-old Newburgh woman was arrested by state police at Highland at 10:15 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Route 9W and was charged with two misdemeano­r counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance; having a controlled substance in a non-original container, a violation; and speeding, an infraction. She was released with appearance tickets for Lloyd Town Court. State police did not release her name, citing a policy against releasing the names of suspects under age 19.

New Paltz • Drugs:

An 18-year-old Lake Katrine man and an 18-year-old Lake Katrine woman were arrested by state police at Ulster at 1:10 a.m. Friday on state Route 299 in the village. The man was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeano­r; and possession of marijuana, a violation. The woman was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeano­r, and possession of marijuana and controlled substance in a non-original container, both violations. Both were released with appearance tickets for New Paltz Court. State police did not released their names, citing a policy against releasing the names of suspects under age 19.

• Drugs: Brian P. Higgins, 37, of Lake Katrine, was arrested by state police at Highland on Main Street in the town at 1:10 a.m. Friday and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, both misdemeano­rs, and with having a controlled substance in a non-original container, a violation. Higgins was released with appearance tickets for New Paltz Court.

Red Hook

• Drugs: Stewart M. Menz, 36, of Red Hook, was arrested by Red Hook police at 5:25 p.m. Monday on River Road in the town and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeano­r. Following a traffic stop, Menz was allegedly found with 14 grams of cocaine as well as several oxycodone pills. He was released with an appearance ticket for Red Hook Town Court.

Saugerties

• DWI: Joseph M. Terpening, 36, of 39 Parish Lane, Lake Katrine, was arrested by Saugerties police at 11:19 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Route 9W at Glasco Turnpike in the town and was charged with drunken driving and aggravated drunken driving, both felonies; driving without a court-ordered ignition interlock device and possession of a hypodermic syringe, both misdemeano­rs; and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, a violation. Terpening was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Woodstock

• DWI: Samantha L. Weitzer, 28, of Woodstock, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 11:19 p.m. Thursday on state Route 375 and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeano­rs, and with failing to stop at a stop sign, an infraction. Weitzer was released with appearance tickets for Woodstock Town Court.
