Property owners may apply to CWC for relief
Property owners in communities where a local flood analysis has been completed may now apply directly to the Catskill Watershed Corp. for funding for some flood protection and relocation measures.
Assistance is available for — venting basement or foundation walls to allow water to pass through; raising the building two feet above base flood elevation; installing a membrane on the exterior of a building down to footing level; sealing doors and windows with removable flood shields; moving vulnerable utilities to an upper floor; and purchasing land for the relocation of anchor businesses or critical community facilities, and providing septic or wastewater system access for the relocated building
The corporation can also reimburse eligible costs of anchoring interior or exterior fuel oil, kerosene or propane tanks. For more information, visit cwconline.org or call John Mathiesen at (845) 586-1400.
