Gerald Bryan Thaddeus Joseph Lehmann, formerly of West O’Reilly St., Kingston, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilita­tion Center in Kingston.

The first-born of twins on Dec. 26, 1936, in Oak Park, Ill., Gerald graduated Joliet Township High School in 1953 and was a graduate of a onceChrist­ian College, but not now, in 1957. He did community developmen­t work in Mexico in lieu of military service in 19591961. Gerald hiked across Europe and twelve countries during 1963 and was three miles from Berlin the day the Berlin Wall went up. He served with the Mennonite Central Committee in Uganda 1984-1986. He married Patricia Diane Van Wagner June 26, 1993. Was cofounder of Buyamba, Inc., an organizati­on that supported and educated 1,500 (by 2010) Ugandan orphans or poor children in its own modern schools in Kansauqa Parish, Kampala Uganda.

His parents died previously. A twin brother, Frederick Lewis, died previously in 1994, and younger brother, Donald, died in 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Diane Lehmann; stepson, Richard Coughlin; a sister-in-law, Jan Lehmann; a sister, Elizabeth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald was arrested in eight states and the District of Columbia for Civil Rights and Pro-Life Activities.

Cremation and funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh.com). A memorial service will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Abundant Life Tabernacle, Broadway, Kingston. Inurnment will be private at North Marbletown Cemetery.
