Luxury camping, complete with hot showers and a continental breakfast, has come to the Hutton Brickyards property along the Hudson River in Kingston.

The luxury camping, or “glamping,” is part of the ongoing redevelopment of the waterfront property at 200 North St. and was part of a site plan approved by the city Planning Board in April. That approval allowed developers to create a 36-site “glamp-ground” on the property for luxury camping, as well as further expand other facilities and parking.

The property, in addition to having camping, also will host concerts, weddings and other events, as well as a food and goods marketplace called Hutton Fare, similar to the Smorgasburg market that operated at the site in 2016 and 2017.

Sara Gramling, a publicist for Hutton Brickyards, said that while approval for 36 glamping sites was granted, the development team “felt 25 worked best.”

Terra Glamping is now accepting reservations for its 25 safari-style sleep tents available on the Hutton Brickyards site. Each tent can accommodate two to four people and includes memory-foam mattresses, down bedding and furniture fit for a fine hotel room.

Reservations can be made online at www.terraglamping.com.

“Hutton Brickyards and Terra Glamping are working very closely together to create a truly unique experience that leverages the best of both glamping and the beautiful, natural space,” Gramling said.

In addition to the glamping sites, there also is a lounge tent for guests fur-

nished with books, board games, cards, couches and seating areas, as well as a trailer with flushing toilets and hot showers. Each guest also receives a bathroom kit, which includes robes, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and toothpaste.

Terra Glamping will be open at the site seven days a week through Labor Day and on weekends from then through the end of October.

The Hutton Brickyards property is owned by MWest Holdings of California. The site was used for brick manufacturing from 1865 to 1890 by Cordts and Hutton Co. and from 1890 to 1965 by the Hutton Brick Co. It later was sold to the Jova Manufacturing Co. and then the Staples Brick Co., which lasted until 1980.

The Hutton Brickyards hosted two concerts by Bob

Dylan in June 2017, as well as the Smorgasburg Upstate food and flea market on summer weekends in 2016 and 2017.

The Smorgasburg operators announced earlier this year that they would not return in 2018. The similar Hutton Fare, though, will operate on four weekends: July 21-22, Aug. 18-19, Sept. 15-16 and Oct. 20-21.
