KINGSTON » Joseph Francis Torrisi Jr., 103, formerly of East Chester Street, Kingston, N.Y., passed away Thursday morning, June 28, 2018, at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Center.

Joseph was born in Port Ewen, N.Y., March 6, 1915, a son of the late Santo and Jennie (Contino) Torrisi.

He moved to Kingston after his marriage to Dolores (Steltz) Torrisi. He held various jobs before becoming a tugboat captain for 38 years. He enjoyed his pets and played golf until the age of 88 years old. He was a fan of baseball, football, and tennis, and took pleasure in watching games on television as well as his favorite shows. He loved the company of his family and friends. He was very social and engaged in many conversati­ons about times past. He was considered a historian who possessed a quick wit and sense of humor.

Surviving are his children, Regina Thomann and her husband Robert, Guy Torrisi and his wife Debbie, and Jana Torrisi; grandchild­ren, Jaime Schaefer and her husband Tom, Kyle Naccarato, Seth Thomann, Sara Thomann, Sophia Torrisi, and Rachael Bailey; and great-grandchild­ren, Victoria, Andrew John, and Luna Rose. Nieces and nephews also survive.

His wife, Dolores (Steltz) Torrisi; a son, Joseph Torrisi; two sisters, Josephine and Frances (Fannie); and brother, John Torrisi, predecease­d him.

Funeral and cremation arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston, N.Y. (www.jvleahyfh.com) Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. A procession will form at the funeral home Tuesday at 9 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary’s Church at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow cremation in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
