Mid-Hudson poised for Rebels tourney

10th annual tourney this weekend at Cantine Field and Glasco Little League complexes

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. » A field of 46 softball teams competing in four age divisions will descend on the Cantine Field and Glasco Little League complexes this weekend for the 10th annual Mid-Hudson Rebels Rumble tournament.

The three-day tourney covering four age brackets (12U, 14U, 16U, 18U) begins Friday evening, with a pair of games as well as the fourth annual Home Run Derby to benefit the Rebels’ Carmen Congelli Fund.

Congelli, a Marlboro High All-Star and Rebels standout, died from cancer at age 17 in 2011. The Derby will be held on Field 7 with qualifying from 5 to 7 p.m. and the championsh­ip round commencing at 7.

There will be 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 17-and-over adult brackets, with male and female divisions in each. To date, $1,200 has been awarded to Rebels players through the fund.

The hosts will be represente­d by three teams — the U12 Rebels, U14 Rebels Red and U14 Rebels Blue.

Competing in the 10-team 12U bracket will be — the Rebels, Adirondack Xtreme White, Beacon Xtreme, Dutchess Debs, ES Huskies Corbin, ES Huskies Hotle, Geddes Thunder Stix, Monroe Crusaders, New England Shockwave and

Saratoga Thunder 06.

Joing the Rebels Red and Rebels Blue teams in the 18team 14U bracket will be — Beacon Xtreme, Brewster Rockets, Burnt Hills Spartans, Burnt Hills Spartans Ice, Capital Region Reign, EC Bombers, ES Huskies Cubberly, ES Huskies Sottile, Hudson Valley Panthers, Infinity Shock, Miss Shen Alliance, Monroe Crusaders, New England Shockwave, OC Bombers Black, OC Bombers White and Upstate Lady Pride.

Making up the 10-team 16U bracket will be — Beacon Xtreme, Capital District Fusion, Danbury Crush, Dutchess Divas, East Coast Impact, EC Bombers Futures, Lady Charge, MW Crusaders, New England Shockwave and Saugerties Cruisers.

Competing in the 8-team 18U bracket will be — Adirondack Chill, Central Mass. Xplosion, Central Region Reign, Hudson Valley Wildcats, HV Vengeance Blue, New England Shockwave, SC Hurricanes and Show Softball.

Pool play games (69 in total) will be held Friday and Saturday, with eliminatio­n play on Sunday. The 12U Rebels open play 12:45 p.m. Saturday against Beacon Xtrenme on Cantine Field 4. The 14U Rebels Red squad opens 7 p.m. Friday on Cantine Field 8 against OC Bombers Black, while 14U Rebels Blue open 9:15 a.m. Saturday on Cantine Field 3 against Hudson Valley Panthers.

The 12U Rebels are 3516-3 this season, including one tournament championsh­ip, four second-place finishes, a third place and fourth place finish. Players are Mia Chambers, Madalyn Dodig, Allisyn Kipp, Emma Maxwell, Ella McDonough, Abigail Naccarato, Erin Parete, Caitlyn Sindt, Mackenzie Sullivan, Ayla Terpening, Grace Terpening and Gianna Tisch.

The team is coached by John Parete, assisted by Eric Chambers, Allen Stokes, Rich Terpening and

Errol Tisch.

The 14U Rebels Blue are 37-6-1, with three championsh­ips, two second-place finishes and a pair of thirdplace finishes. The team is made up by Amber Banas, Hailee Binney, Devin Fitzpatric­k, Alexandra Frenza, Marena Graham, Dylan Lane, Xxaria Makely, Jennifer Mead, Arianna Jane Pahl, Lauren Parete, Emma Schlager and Courtney Schwark.

The Rebels Blue are coached by Boyd Vaughn, assisted by Paul Fitzpatric­k, Terry Lane and Kirstyn Vaughn.

The 14U Rebels Red are 24-9-2 this season, with a pair of tournament titles and a second-place finish. Making up the team are Ava DelSalto, McxKenna Fairley, Emma Haller, Barrett Holsapple, Rachel Hoyt, Gianna Koch, Trista Lukaszewsk­i, Abigail Schaffer, Cadence Sickler and Audrey Werba.

Brian Haller is the team’s head coach, assisted by Patrick DelSalto, Thomas Holsapple, Eric Koch and William Sickler.

The Rebels have U10 and U8 teams not competing this weekend.

The U10 Rebels are 9-2 with a pair of second-place finishes. The team is made up by Emily Cogswell, Stefanie Cogswell, Abigail Crantz, Sophia Johnson, Malia Kesick, Joleigh Kozack, Josie Kozack, Grace Madelone, Paige McDermott, Lauren, Schoonmake­r, Kendly Short and Elizabeth Sullivan.

The squad is coached by Jamie Kesick, assisted by Gary Short and Nick Crantz.

The U8 squad will be playing in their first tournament soon. On the team are Amelia Blazek, Cali Chambers, Kadi Holt, Peyton Kastanis, Lyla Lemister, Caitlin Mendelsohn, Alexis Meyer, Madison Murphy, Gianna Sacino, Makenzie Saracino, Ella Schoonmake­r, Molly Stankus and Isabella Turzik. They are coached by Chris Schoonmake­r, assisted by Jeffery Holt, Jim Meyer and Paul Roeber.
