Diamond Vets edge AFCO in Upper B contest

KINGSTON, N.Y. » The Diamond Vets walked off with a 15-14 win over AFCO in a wild back-and-forth Kingston Recreation League women’s softball Upper B Division contest.

The Diamond Vets had a 8-1 lead heading into the fourth only for AFCO to put up an 11 spot and go up 128. But the Diamond Vets answered back with four more in the bottom frame to tie it up at 12-12.

The Vets then went pulled ahead 13-12 in the bottom of the fifth only for AFCO to answer with two in the seventh to go up 14-13.

Mariah Williams homered and drove in three runs, and Jamie Bodie hit two singles, two doubles and had there RBI to lead the Diamond Vets.

Karli Stefanowiz homered and had four RBI and Lacey Spadafora tripled and had two RBI to pace AFCO.

A late rally helped lift COBA/Fromson Law past Perfezione Painting 16-15 in A Division action.

Down 15-13 in the fifth after Perfezione Painting put up a seven spot, COBA scored three in the fifth to go ahead 16-15 and six more in the sixth helped seal the win.

Kristina Benjamin homered, doubled and hit two singles and drove in four runs and Amanda Morano hit two triples and a single and had three RBI to lead COBA.

Beth Bowens tripled and had two RBI and Andrewa Clausi hit three doubles and had three RBI to carry Perfezione.

Down 20-16, Ridgeview Landscaping put up a fivespot to walk-off with a 2120 win a wild Upper B Division contest.

With VFW Holding an 18-6 lead after a 14-run third, Ridgeview kept chipping away with four in the bottom frame and six more in the fourth to pull back to within two, VFW built a two-run cushion in the top of the fifth to go up 2016, but it’d prove not to be enough in the loss.

Katie Gill tripled and had two RBI and Deserie Lawlor hit three triples and had four RBI.

Lynsey Timbruck hit three triples and drove in two runs to carry VFW in the loss.
