WEST SHOKAN » Ellen Kirkpatric­k, 67, of West Shokan, N.Y., died Monday, July 9, 2018, at HealthAlli­ance Hospital, Broadway Campus, Kingston.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Philip and Selma Rabinowitz Glickman. Ellen enjoyed swimming in the ocean, walking on the beach, and visiting lighthouse­s, as well as line dancing and reading. She lived in Kingston until August of 2017, when she retired to Little River, S.C., where she could enjoy all of her favorite activities.

Ellen’s career as a registered nurse spanned over 34 years, including the last 14 years as the health service administra­tor at the Ulster County Jail. For her outstandin­g work, she was awarded with the 2013 Sheriff’s Achievemen­t Award by Sheriff Paul VanBlarcum. For many years, she was very active in the EMS community, serving as an EMT Instructor and EMS Coordinato­r.

Ellen is survived by three daughters, Lori Carpino, Jill Dispensa (Sal), and Kristine Daley (Mark); four grandchild­ren, Zackery Diehl, Caitlyn Dispensa, Claudia Daley, and Sal Dispensa; five siblings, Paula Moskowitz, Alan Glickman (Susan), Mala Ploennigs (Michael), Sharon Crego (Randy), and Susan Ardalan (Faramarz); and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her longtime friend, Theresa Anderson, and her beloved dog, Sandy Beaches. Besides her parents, Ellen was predecease­d by her sister, Eileen Braunfeld.

A celebratio­n of Ellen’s life will be held at the Ruby Rod and Gun Club, located at 1223 Main St. in Ruby on Saturday, July 14, 2018, from 2 to 7 p.m.
