City of Kingston

• Drugs: Brooke R. Benter, 34, of Kingston, was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies on Henry Street during a traffic stop Saturday and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (a glass pipe containing crack cocaine), a misdemeano­r. Benter was released with an appearance ticket for Kingston City Court.

• Drugs: Rafiq K. Dawood, 41, of Kingston, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 5:53 p.m. Monday on O’Neil Street and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeano­r, and the infraction of drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle. Dawood was released with an appearance ticket for Kingston City Court.

• DWAI-drugs: Chance M. Falsetta, 24, of Lake Katrine, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 5:47 p.m. Monday on O’Neil Street and was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeano­r, and with a traffic device violation. Falsetta was released with appearance tickets for Kingston City Court.

• DWI: Katherine A. Kondrat, 30, of Kingston, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 11:49 p.m. Monday on Pearl Street and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a bloodalcoh­ol level exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeano­rs, and with the infraction of failing to stop at a stop sign. Kondrat was released with appearance tickets for Kingston City Court.

Catskill • Unlicensed driving/DWI:

Todd O. Melanson, 49, of Sloansvill­e, was arrested by state police at Catskill at 9:39 p.m. Monday on state Route 23B and was charged with aggravated unlicensed driving (alcohol), a felony; drunken driving, a misdemeano­r; and possession of marijuana, a violation. Further informatio­n was unavailabl­e.

Ghent

• Drugs: Kurt Cangelosi, 35, of Cairo, was arrested by Columbia County sheriff’s deputies at 3:52 a.m. July 10 after a traffic stop on state Route 9H and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a misdemeano­r; and with having an inadequate headlight, an infraction. Cangelosi was released with an appearance ticket for Ghent Town Court.

Hyde Park

• Assault: Michael A. Nicholas, 32, of Poughkeeps­ie, was arrested by state police at Rhinebeck on Sunday after turning himself in at the state police barracks in Rhinebeck and was charged with felony assault. On June 28, troopers and Hyde Park police responded to a reported domestic dispute and, upon arrival, interviewe­d the victim. An investigat­ion led to the issuance of a warrant for Nicholas’ arrest. He was arraigned in Hyde Park Town Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail pending a further court appearance.

Lloyd

• DWI: Jose L. Contreras, 33, of Freeport, was arrested by state police Highland at 4:18 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 9W and charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeano­rs. Contreras was released with an appearance ticket for Lloyd Town Court.

Saugerties

• DWI: Darrin J. Sweeney, 51, of Saugerties, was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies at 9:45 p.m. Friday after a traffic stop on state Route 32 in the town and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol

level exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeano­rs, as well as several traffic infraction­s. Sweeney was stopped after deputies saw his vehicle cross the center pavement markings and hazard lines. While attempting to stop the vehicle, he allegedly drove through a parking lot in an attempt to avoid an intersecti­on and was soon stopped. Sweeney was released with appearance tickets for Saugerties Town Court.

• DWI: Sean D. Beck, 45, of Saugerties, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 8:29 p.m. Monday on Old Route 32 in the town and was charged with drunken driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent, both misdemeano­rs, and with the infraction of failing to stop at a stop sign. Beck was released with appearance tickets for Saugerties Town Court.
