Wilma J. Lemister, 97, of Port Ewen

PORT EWEN » Wilma J. Lemister, 97, of Port Ewen, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, surrounded by family, at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1921, in Kingston, N.Y., the daughter of the late Otto Lavsa and Edith Garrison Lavsa. Wilma was married to Walter Lemister on Aug. 15, 1948. Walter passed away on Nov. 3, 1985.

Wilma was the strong and faithful matriarch of her family. She taught compassion, love, and how to give the perfect hugs with the warmest hands. Wilma was actively involved in Scouting in her younger days and was a member of the Reformed Church of Port Ewen, where she was also a member of the DORCAS Society and The Quilting Divas.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Paul) Mushlit; her son, Wayne (Lillian) Lemister; her

grandchild­ren, Lucas (Michelle) Castiglion­e, Philip (Erin) Castiglion­e, Victoria (Brian) Lowe, Russel Lemister, Adrienne (Jeff) Kain, Shaun (Rachel) Lemister, and Paul (Melissa) Mushlit Jr.; 16 greatgrand­children; her sister, Patricia (Thomas) French; as well as several nieces and nephews. Wilma is preceded in death by her brother, Carl Lavsa.

The family thanks the staff at Ten Broeck Commons, Catskill Unit and Rehab, for all their love and care in support of Wilma.

Arrangemen­ts are entrusted to the care of Keyser

Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, N.Y. 12401, where family and friends may visit on Friday, July 20, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. The service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Stone Ridge, N.Y.
