KINGSTON » Emanuel McLeod, 68, of Kingston, died Monday, July 16, 2018, at the Northeast Center for Special Care in Lake Katrine.

He was born May 10, 1950, in Ozark, Alabama, the son of the late Bennie C. McLeod.

Emanuel worked for the City of Kingston Department of Public Works. Prior to working for the City of Kingston, he worked on the railroad and for Beacon Van Lines, and after retirement from the City of Kingston, he worked at the Salvation Army and in the Maintenanc­e Department of Kingston Hospital.

Surviving are his son, Orion McLeod Sr. (Sandy McNabb-McLeod); his longtime friend and companion, Joyce Marie Ector; grandchild­ren, Orion Ramano McLeod Jr., Shontell Ann McLeod, Ronald E. McLeod, Jeniyah M. McLeod, O’ryin I. McLeod, Oasis S. McLeod, Casanova E. McLeod, Royalty McLeod, Damari J. Thomas-McLeod, Julian C. DeGroat, A’sana C. Wellington; and daughter, Brandy Smith and her children Orion Brown, Fantaysia Curtis, and Jaybrianna Smith. Many brothers and sisters, as well as nieces and nephews, also survive.

Emanuel’s wife, Susan McLeod, and daughter, Shakera McLeod-Howell, died previously. Brothers and sisters have died previously as well.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh.com). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. to noon. A Home Going Celebratio­n will take place at noon. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
