Annual Ulster County Fair kicks off today
The event starts this afternoon and runs through Sunday at the county fairgrounds on Libertyville Road.
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. » The annual Ulster County Fair opens this afternoon and runs through Sunday at the county fairgrounds, 294 Libertyville Road.
The gates open at 4 p.m. today, then at 10 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
Admission is $17 per person. Carloads of up to eight people will be admitted for $50 today. Senior citizens get in for free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Parking is free for the duration of the fair.
The music lineup includes Thunder Ridge at 7:30 this evening; Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters at 8 p.m. Wednesday; Charlie Daniels Band at 8 p.m. Thursday; Keith Anderson at 4 and 8 p.m. Friday; Cale Dodds at 8 p.m. Saturday; and former Journey lead singer Steve Augeri at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
There will be a fireworks show at dusk on Wednesday.
Daily attractions will include the Moogician, a magic and music show powered by milk; Robinson’s Racing Pigs; the Two by Two Petting Zoo; and chain saw carver and artist Josh Landry.
Competitions and exhibitions include:
• Garden tractor pull, 6 this evening.
• Truck pull, 7 p.m. Thursday.
• Antique tractor pull, 6 p.m. Friday.
• Baby contest, 11 a.m. Sunday.
There also will be daily horse shows.
