Helen C. Synan, 100, of Red Hook
Helen C. Synan, 100, of Red Hook, N.Y., passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at The Pines in Catskill, N.Y.
Born on Jan. 24, 1918, in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Lena Brennan.
A longtime resident of Flushing, N.Y., where she was a communicant of St. Andrew Avellino parish. She moved to Red Hook in 1988 with her husband Edward, and became communicants of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook. Her husband predeceased her on Sept. 8, 1998.
A wife and homemaker, Helen was celebrated among family and friends for her Christmas plum pudding and her Irish soda bread, which always made the tea taste better!
Helen is survived by her five sons, Edward and his wife Catherine of Palenville, N.Y., Timothy and his wife Maria of Putnam Valley, N.Y., Bro. Stephen W. Synan, F.M.S. of New Orleans, La., Francis and his wife Janet of Red Hook, N.Y., and Patrick and his wife Patricia of Mahopac, N.Y. Twelve grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and extended family also survive.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Brennan and Bridget Brennan, and two brothers, Patrick and Stephen Brennan.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, N.Y. Burial will be at St. Sylvia’s Cemetery, Tivoli.
