More than 250 high school students traveled to the Idaho State University campus from the United States, Canada and China for the week-long competition. Students tested their knowledge of soils, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife and this year’s topic, Western rangelands, through written tests and oral presentations.

Pennsylvania Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts created an “Environmental Olympics” competition. Conservation districts throughout the country have supported Envirothon since its inception to encourage high school students to pursue environmental, conservation and natural resource-related fields.

The international NCF-Envirothon competition took place on the campus of North
