Music Series starts Aug. 12
The Newburgh Jewish Music Series debuts Sunday, Aug. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Peoples Park, 1 Washington St., with a performance by the Nak Trio.
The series encompasses many genres of religious, semi-religious and folk music used in the synagogue,

She is the daughter of Christopher and Valerie Arnade of New Paltz.
••• Two area residents — Robert H. Van Kleeck of Milan and Thomas Albertie of Goshen — graduated from Lyndon State College in Lyndon Center, Vt., on May 20.
Van Kleeck received a bachelor of science degree in atmospheric sciences. Albertie received a bachelor of science degree in mountain recreation management.

Students earn president’s list status by achieving a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.
••• Nine area residents — Matthew Baker, Rian Baker and Chloe Dumas, all of Hurley; Allison Ryan of Shandaken, Alfred Worrad of Highland,
in the Jewish home and also music using Jewish texts or themes. Included will be a performance of “klezmer,” the toe-tapping traditional Eastern European party music infused with Jewish spirituality, world-class Jewish jazz and Broadway musicals and show tunes that were collectively written largely by American Jews.
The series is part of the Ferry Godmother Music Steve Latimer of Pine Bush, Kiara Cruickshank of Big Indian, Kayla Weckesser of Rhinebeck and Joshua Wyant of Germantown — were named presidential scholars at Clarkson University in Potsdam for the spring semester.
Scholars earn presidential scholar status by achieving a grade point average of 3.8 or higher.
Matthew Baker is a freshman majoring in electrical engineering. Rian Baker is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering. Dumas and Wyant are both seniors majoring in civil engineering. Ryan is a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering. Worrad and Weckesser are both seniors majoring in chemical engineering. Latimer is a senior majoring in aeronautical engineering. Cruickshank is a senior majoring in biomolecular science.

Additional concerts in the series will take place Sunday, Aug. 19, at Unico Park, Front and Fourth streets; and Sunday, Aug. 26, at Peoples Park. Madarka will perform Aug. 19, with Assaf Gleizner performing Aug. 26. Admission to all three concerts is free.
