Man who admitted to sexual act with child gets 7 years in prison
KINGSTON, N.Y. » A man who admitted to having oral sex with a 12-year-old child and then bribed two witnesses to change their testimony was sentenced Friday to seven years in prison, according to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
Leoneudi Agueda, 24, of 44 Dwyer Ave. in the Sullivan County village of Liberty, was sentenced in Ulster County Court to the maximum permitted by law. His prison time will be followed by 10 years of post-release supervision and he will be required to register on the state Sex Offender Registry for a minimum of 20 years, according to a press release.
Additionally, an order of protection on behalf of Agueda’s victim will remain in effect until 2033, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Agueda was arrested on June 15, 2017, following an investigation by the state police at Ellenville. He was indicted by an Ulster County grand jury on Feb. 8, 2018 for the felony of criminal sexual act.
The felonious sexual act was with a 12-year-old child and occurred at a parking area off state Route 52 in the town of Wawarsing. The defendant also faces misdemeanor charges in Sullivan County, authorities have said.
Agueda was further charged by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office on Feb. 6 with two counts of bribing a witness for offering monetary compensation to two witnesses in exchange for their altered testimony in this case. He had been released on property bond when the additional crimes took place, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Two underaged witnesses, purportedly friends of the victim, lied to the District Attorney’s Office and the grand jury after they were bribed by Agueda, the press release stated.
