KINGSTON, N.Y. » A Plattekill man has been sentenced in Ulster County Court to seven years in state prison for sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Sean Roff, 26, was sentenced by Ulster County Judge Donald A. Williams on Friday to the maximum penalty allowable by law for criminal sexual act, a felony. His sentence will be followed by 10 years of post-release supervision and he will also be required to register as a sex offender for a minimum of 20 years. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim until 2033.

Roff was arrested on July 23, 2017, following an investigation by state police at Highland. He was indicted by an Ulster County grand jury on Dec. 21, 2017 on charges of rape and criminal sexual act, both felonies. The crimes had allegedly occurred in mid-July 2017 at Roff’s home.

Roff pleaded guilty before Williams on May 16 to the felony charge of criminal sexual act.

In a press release, the District Attorney’s Office quoted the victim’s father, who addressed Roff at his sentencing: “Unfortunately, my daughter will have to live with this disgusting memory for the rest of her life. No amount of jail time could ever make up for that. You are a pig and piece of garbage . ... I pray you serve every day of your life hating yourself for what you have done.”
