Basil Moschowsky, Jr., 91, of Saint Remy

Basil Moschowsky, Jr., a resident of Saint Remy, entered into rest Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at his home. He was 91.

Son of the late Basil and Margaret Shipskie Moschowsky, he was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Olyphant, Pennsylvan­ia.

Basil proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He married the love of his life, the former Eleanor Sprovkin, on May 16, 1953, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Scranton, Pennsylvan­ia. Mrs. Moschowsky survives at home in Saint Remy. Basil attended and graduated from Penn State in 1957. Together they moved to the Kingston area that same year as Basil began his career with IBM. He retired in 1990 after 25 years of service.

Basil was a parishione­r of St. Gregory the Theologian Church in Wappingers Falls. He was a former church council member and treasurer of the church. He had also been choir director for twentyfive years. Basil was an avid golfer, loved to bowl, enjoyed watch making and treasured time spent dancing with his wife. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, the American Watchmaker and Clockmaker Institute, the United Horologica­l Associatio­n, the National Radio Institute Alumni Associatio­n, the Anthracite Male Chorus, the American Legion for seventy-three years, as well as the Wiltwyck Golf Club since 1974.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his brother, Walter Moschowsky of Arizona; his nephews, George Mozurkewic­h, Michael Mozurkewic­h, both of New Mexico, and David Mozurkewic­h of Washington.

In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by his sister, Helene Mozurkewic­h.

Family will receive their friends on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. Gregory the Theologian, 1500 Route 376 in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. at the church.

A service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 13, at St. Gregory the Theologian Church in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Tikhon’s Monastery Cemetery in South Canaan, Pennsylvan­ia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Basil’s name to St. Gregory the Theologian Church Portico Fund, 1500 Route 376, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590.
